The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians of Cape May County, Division 1 wishes to thank the students who participated in our annual essay contest. Our theme this year was “The Role of the Irish in World War I.” Kudos to the parents and teachers of these talented students!
Our winners in Level 1 (grades 6-8) are all students at Bishop McHugh Regional School: Luka Grdinish took First Place, Matthew Kemenosh, Second Place and Michael Klein won Third Place. Ryan Griesbach of Cape Trinity School and Maggie McMahon of Bishop McHugh were awarded Honorable Mention at our LAOH division level and state level. The State of New Jersey also awarded Michael Klein the First Place award, Matthew Kemenosh, Second and Luka Grdinich, Third. Michael and Matthew are repeat winners are both repeat winners in both the county and state levels.
Level 2 (grades 9-12) winners are Sylvia Tenkorang-Kontoh of Lower Cape May Regional School who won First Place, Dillon Barry of Wildwood Catholic High School with Second Place and Desiree Tolchin of Lower Cape May Regional, Third; Hennessey Barry of Wildwood Catholic High School earned Honorable Mention. All of our Level 2 students won Honorable Mention for the State of New Jersey!
