VILLAS – The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Lower Township will hold a kickoff event April 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Township Hall, located at 2600 Bayshore Road in Villas. The event is free and open to the public and anyone who is interested in learning more about the Relay for Life.
The kickoff program will honor cancer survivors and caregivers and feature the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives from cancer. Attendees will have the opportunity to register a team for the Relay For Life in Lower Township, which will be held May 14-15 at Lower Cape May Regional High School.
Relay For Life is a community event where teams and individuals camp out at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team has at least one participant on the track at all times and participates in fundraising that supports the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives and finish the fight against cancer. Four million people participated in more than 6,000 events worldwide.
This is the second year Relay For Life has come to Lower Township.
“The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all,” said Buffi Hinker-Miller, Relay For Life of Lower Township Event Lead. “This is our community’s opportunity to fight back against cancer.”
