Red Cross Joins Tri-County COAD Opening Resource Center for Residents Affected by Flooding

WILDWOOD — The Tri-County Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD), is partnering with the American Red Cross and other disaster assistance organizations to open a “one-stop shop” for people affected by flooding caused by the recent winter storm.
On Sat., Jan. 30, 2016, a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Wildwood City Hall, 4400 New Jersey Avenue, Wildwood, NJ 08260.
“The Tri-County COAD is proud to join our partners in Wildwood to help those affected by flooding navigate the road to recovery,” said Andy Applegate, chairman, Tri-County COAD. “We invite those impacted to take advantage of this ‘one-stop shop’ of resources and services available to help meet their needs.”
Organizations will have representatives and caseworkers available at the MARC to help people create personal recovery plans, navigate paperwork, and locate assistance for their specific disaster-caused needs, such as home repair and clean up, assistance for basic needs, temporary lodging, medicine, and other items or services. Representatives from numerous government, nonprofit, and religiously-affiliated disaster relief organizations will be on hand at the MARC to assist those affected.
Partner resources available at the MARC include the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, United Way, Catholic Charities, St. Vincent de Paul, Community FoodBank of NJ, CrisisCleanup.org, along with Cape May County Department of Human Services, Disaster Response Crisis Counseling, Cape May County Department of Aging and Disability Services, and more.
Support for emotional and spiritual needs, as well as “How to Get Your Recovery Off to a Good Start” presentations will be offered.
Individuals and families applying for assistance are required to bring identification showing address and proof of residence to be eligible for assistance from some agencies.
