VILLAS — The American Red Cross will be holding a community blood drive in Lower Township, Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Township Hall, 2600 Bayshore Rd.
American Deli will donate a piece of pizza to each blood donor, according to owner Rich Nagle.
“I’m trying to get more people to give blood,” said Nagle. “Blood is really needed.”
Appointments are preferred. Call Lower Township Clerk Julie Piccard to schedule a time to donate blood on Aug. 20: (609) 886-2005.
Donors may also sign up online: redcrossblood.org.

“I think it is important that people give blood,” said Township Manager Michael Voll. “It’s just unfortunate that people won’t take the time when they are healthy to donate for people that are really in need.”
“It’s a shame some will wait until they are personally in need or when a family member is in need, then they will be soliciting from others,” he continued.
Voll is encouraging all Lower Township employees to donate blood. Township employees may donate blood during their scheduled work hours.
