CAPE MAY – The transformation continues this Tuesday evening beginning at 6:30 at the Nature Center of Cape May, 1600 Delaware Avenue with a workshop that will utilize decoupage to breathe new life into discarded items. For example, imagine a well-used, round coffee table picked from the trash, cleaned up and covered with out-of-date nautical charts decoupaged to the surface. What a perfect accent piece for a Jersey shore home. According to Nature Center Director, Gretchen Whitman, “Our re-purpose workshop group has evolved into an ever growing club. We’re learning, having fun and turning out some truly useful and beautiful pieces.”
Interested persons are welcome to come out Tuesdays at 6:30 to the Charlotte Todd Educational Center located on the Nature Center campus (near the Coast Guard Base). Cost per workshop is $15 for NJ Audubon members and $20 for non-members. So, don’t throw away that old table; come out on Tuesday and learn how to it a new purpose.
The Nature Center of Cape May (NCCM) is situated on the rim of Cape May Harbor at 1600 Delaware Avenue in Cape May. One of 10 centers operated by New Jersey Audubon, the Center provides family oriented programming in the marine sciences on a year-round basis. The public is invited to visit our campus, shop at the nature store and view the breathtaking harbor and its environment from the Trucksess Observation tower.
