One of the most satisfying feelings of being a realtor is helping first-time homebuyers find their home. But it’s not always easy and glamorous. In most cases, extra leg work is involved with showing the new homebuyers a multitude of properties until the right one jumps out at them. Clients are genuinely excited about the hunt for a new home, and can envision what a home can be with a little face lift. You get to guide them through the whole process of submitting an offer, obtaining a mortgage, doing the home inspection and helping with every step along the way until you reach the closing table. The day of closing always has a special feel, placing new buyers into a property that will grow and house many memories to come. Some buyers are looking for a place to raise a family, and some have the intent of starting one.

One of the most memorable searches was a newlywed couple looking for a property that could also be used as a horse farm. They were recently engaged and through the search became husband and wife. Each property seemed to fit a few pieces of the puzzle, yet never fully completed the whole. We lost out on a few properties due to higher bids, which was always a tense scenario. Some properties had stunning landscapes, yet the home didn’t suit the buyers; or, the home was perfect, but the property didn’t lend itself to the husbandry of horses. Finally, after a year of searching, the perfect fit came – the price was right, the house only needed a little updating and the land only needed a little work to house the horses. The deal went so smooth, it was meant to be! It just goes to show that with a little hard work and perseverance, you can get the job done.
