COURT HOUSE — One local food truck owner stepped up to help a family that owns a different local food truck, after they suffered a devastating house fire.
Around 4:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, multiple fire departments reported to a structure fire at 412 Goshen Road, in Court House. The house, belonging to Sarah and Mike McGuire, was up in flames.
According to reports on social media, posted by friends of the family, everyone was able to get out of the home safely and the family pet also survived. However, the house was destroyed by the blaze.
The McGuires own the Mac’s Cafe food truck, which is popular at breweries and seasonal campgrounds around the county. One of their competitors, who was scheduled to be at COHO Brewery Saturday, Dec. 30, Matt’s Family Taste the Love food truck, announced it would donate all proceeds from the event to the displaced family.
“Thankfully everyone and the dog got out and are ok. However they lost everything. So We are going to donate 100% of our profits from our food truck tomorrow to them,” Matt’s Family Taste the Love food truck wrote on Facebook.
The Taste the Love food truck announced it donated over $3,000 to the McGuire family. A Go Fund Me page was also created, which has raised over $8,000 as of Sunday morning, Dec. 31. $1,000 was donated by Anglesea Ale Works. According to the Go Fund Me, the family has three small boys.
“Thank you to everyone to came out tonight . We are so overwhelmed by our community,” Mac’s Cafe Food Truck wrote on Facebook Dec. 31.
There has been no word yet on the cause of the fire. This is a developing story.
