STONE HARBOR – Stephen C. Ludlam Post 331 of The American Legion hosted a light-fare, barbecue for its local communities of Avalon and Stone Harbor Aug. 10.
According to a release, this event, jointly sponsored by Post 331 and the Borough of Stone Harbor, was part of the post’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of The American Legion.
The event was on the grounds of the post’s building, a restored 1895 U.S. Lifesaving and Coast Guard Station, and lasted from 3 to 6 p.m.
Barbecue Bob of Westville provided a fare of hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, corn on the cob, and soft pretzels.
Dessert and beverages were provided by Post 331.
While guests ate, post members circulated to greet the visitors. Docents were
available to take people on a tour of the historic building and show them military artifacts contained in the post’s museum.
Visitors were greeted by Post Commander Thomas P. McCullough. Post 331’s building is the oldest in Stone Harbor and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
