Hi, my name is Trinity Hamann. I am 16 years old, have been a member of 4-H for 10 years, and am President of the Pitchforks and Buckets 4-H Livestock Club. I live on a small historic working farm in Dennisville. I have 28 English Lop Rabbits, 20 chickens, two ducks, five goats, three dogs, a cat and a horse.
The Pitchforks and Buckets 4-H Club has a bit of Hamann family history. My grandfather and his brothers and sisters were once part of the Pitchforks and Buckets, raising lambs in the ‘60s. My dad, John “Duke” Hamann, was a member in the late ‘80s to mid-‘90s, and is currently the leader of our 4-H club.
Club members are me, Trinity Hamann, President; Ryan Couse, Vice President; Jacie Couse, Secretary; Lizzie Hunter, Treasurer; Kelly Hunter, Photographer; Allie Hamann, Photographer; Cadence Golley, Fundraising Committee; and finally, Sophia Hess, our horse girl. Cloverbuds, members in 3rd grade and below, are Emma Gotwols, Megan Couse and Dani Couse. Their leader is Penny Hamann.
Our club likes to take educational trips. Last November, we traveled to Gettysburg for the Apple County Rabbit Show. After showing our awesome bunnies, we got to go on a ghost hunting tour, and visit Gettysburg National Military Park, Devil’s Den, Seminary Ridge, Little Round Top and Cemetery Ridge! What an awesome experience.
At Christmastime, we decorate a float for local parades. This year our theme was winter wonderland, and we participated in the Middle Township, Dennis Township and West Cape May parades.
In February, our club went to the PA State Rabbit & Cavy Breeders convention in Lebanon, Pa. We got to show our bunnies, and learn more about rabbits and cavies.
For the fifth year in a row, our club has put on the Cape Rabbit Show. In total, more than 1,000 exhibitors have come to join us and over 10,000 rabbits have been shown! We have a great group that works hard to get the show together. We have a good time and make sure everyone who attends does the same.
Our club may not be very big, but we are one crazy, fun-loving family. We all look forward to the Cape May County 4-H Fair and hope to see you there!
Cape May – The number one reason I didn’t vote for Donald Trump was January 6th and I found it incredibly sad that so many Americans turned their back on what happened that day when voting. I respect that the…
