Pitchforks & Buckets 4-H Club Hosts Rabbit Shows May 21-22 on 4-H Fairgrounds

COURT HOUSE — The Pitchforks & Buckets 4-H Club will host Rabbit Shows, open to the public, on May 21 and 22 at the 4-H Fairgrounds. The 3rd Annual Cape Rabbit Show will be held on Sun., May 22 at 9 a.m., doors will open at 7 a.m. The show, sanctioned by the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA), will take place at the Lockwood 4-H Youth Center, located on the 4-H fairgrounds at 355 Court House-S. Dennis Rd., Cape May Court House.
Club Leader Duke Hamann said, “There were over 3,000 rabbits last year and we are expecting the same number of rabbits this year plus some 250 guinea pigs.” Additionally this year, the event will feature an open show and several specialty shows. “We will have over 50 different breeds of rabbits at this year’s event,” added Hamann.
On Sat., May 21 at 10 a.m. the Harlequin National Rabbit Show will take place at the Lockwood Center. Doors open at 8 a.m. and the show will start at 10 a.m. There will be approximately 150 rabbits from all over the country participating at this national show. Also, on Sat., there will be an open rabbit clinic at 1 p.m. for all 4-H members.
ARBA is an organization dedicated to the promotion, development and improvement of the domestic rabbit and cavy. With over 23,000 members throughout the United States, Canada, and abroad, their members range from the pet owner with one rabbit or cavy to the breeder or commercial raiser with several hundred animals.

4-H members will also be showing their Rabbits at the annual Cape May County 4-H Fair on July 21, 22 & 23!
