WILDWOOD – The city of North Wildwood in the Wildwoods, NJ hosted its annual Pirates Day with Captain Kidd on Saturday, May 14 – attracting over 3,000 youngsters and their parents!
The event began with a Pirates Parade on the Wildwoods Boardwalk that attracted over 1,000 swashbuckling youngsters dressed in their best pirate garb. Following the parade, a treasure hunt took place at 17th Street and the beach. Prior to the event, city official buried 1,200 treasure chests in dozens of squared off blocks of sand. Kids 12 and under were then invited to chose a pit and start digging for one goodie-filled treasure chest each – which included a variety of treasures like salt water taffy, Morey’s Piers amusement passes, coupons for arcades on the Wildwoods Boardwalk, rings and other prizes.
Pirates Day with Captain Kidd also included several raffles where fantastic prizes were given away to lucky little ones. Prizes that were raffled off include twenty bicycles, five weekend getaway packages with stays at various Wildwoods hotels and a $1,000 savings bond.
