Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center to Sponsor Wildwood Ultimate Frisbee Tournament

By Press Release

WILDWOOD – Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center (PHSC), formerly The Philadelphia Hand Center, is known for executing its ”One Team Approach” when caring for patients. PHSC will take that One Team Approach to the beach July 29 and 30 when they both sponsor and participate in the 25th annual Wildwood Ultimate Frisbee Tournament.

In an effort to immerse PHSC in community activities that utilize the upper extremity, PHSC came upon the Wildwood Ultimate Frisbee event that attracts upwards of 8,000 people who compete in a sport they love. Sponsorship just made sense. “What better way to show PHSC community commitment while being involved in an event that directly correlates with the area of the body that we treat and having fun, all at the same time?” says Jennifer Kuruc, Director of Practice Operations.

“We have been looking for unique opportunities to support programs and events in our community where people clearly make use of their fingers to shoulder,” continues Kuruc. “This Frisbee tournament strikes us as a perfect opportunity to do just that. We look forward to fielding a PHSC team, but more importantly, to getting our people involved in fun activities as a further demonstration of our community interest and support.”

This world’s largest beach ultimate event draws several hundred teams from all over the United States and spectators from up and down the East Coast. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday and runs until 5:45 p.m. Sunday hours are from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is free to spectators.  PHSC didn’t want to just sponsor the event. They are also donating $500 to the winning team’s charity of choice. “We are dedicated to giving back. Some of our physicians host medical mission trips to countries around the world, and all of our physicians are involved with charity care programs through various hospitals and health systems locally. So offering a charity donation as a prize for this tournament seemed like the right thing to do and one that is part of our core values,” shares Kuruc.

“We hope those attending the tournament will make a point of stopping by our table to say “Hi” pick up a simple PHSC souvenir, and discuss hand-to-shoulder health and safety tips,” Kuruc states. “While we want people to avoid hand-to-shoulder injuries, we also want them to know that if they do need us, we are here to help.”
