The Cape May County 4-H Youth Program welcomes a brand new children’s event to this year’s 4-H Fair on Friday, July 20 at 6 p.m. Children won’t want to miss the Peter Rabbit Garden Party held at Irma’s Garden at the 4-H Fairgrounds, 355 Court House-South Dennis Rd., Cape May Court House.
“The Tale of Peter Rabbit,” a British children’s book written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter, follows mischievous, young Peter Rabbit as he is chased about the garden of Mr. McGregor. The classic story of Peter Rabbit has been a favorite book of children since it was first released in 1901. A new movie version, released this year, has rekindled childhood interest in the beloved tale.
Participating children will enjoy a reading of the classic story of Peter Rabbit, make a harvest basket and pick vegetables from Mr. McGregor’s garden to take home. There will also be a special, secret celebrity guest who will lead participants on a scavenger hunt through the 4-H Fairgrounds in search of the 4-H Rabbit Show where more than 50 bunnies of 15 different breeds will be competing in the annual competition among 4-H youth.
