WALLACE, RITA MARIE (nee McGuire), 78, of Cape May, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, June 22, 2017. The younger years of Rita’s life were spent in the Philadelphia area where she was a proud graduate of St. Leonard’s Academy. She spent countless hours at The Palestra playing basketball and enjoying Big 5 games. Rita was an accomplished singer who enjoyed the arts in all their forms. She was an avid reader who loved to sew and craft. She and her husband loved Disney World and went every year until his passing. She had a servant’s heart and spirit, which she showed through her duties as a Eucharistic minister and selfless giving to others. Rita had a wry wit and an impish smile that was contagious. She remembered your favorite things, no matter how trivial, and always made sure that she had them close at hand in case you visited. She enjoyed a marriage of 46 years until the passing of her beloved husband, Jerome “Jerry” Wallace, Jr. in 2006. Rita is dearly missed by her loving family which includes her two children, Jerry (and Jennifer) Wallace of Cape May and Sheila Wallace Deaver of Cape May; five grandchildren, Eric, Caitlin, Zachary, Brendan and David; as well as her many cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (June 29th) at 9:30am in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Cape May where friends will be received from 9am until 9:30am.
