WALL, DR. JOHN C., 78, of Hopewell Township passed away peacefully at home Saturday December 7, 2013. John was born August 20, 1935 in Wilkes Barre, PA to the late Dr. Patrick Wall and Alice Marley Wall, RN. John is survived by his amazing wife, Nancy Reber Wall of 55 years, and his five children; daughter, Lynda Wall Schmidt and her husband Dr. Martin Schmidt of Reading, MA and their four sons, Derek, Brian, Kevin and Daniel, daughter Suzan Wall DeCrescente and her husband Paul DeCrescente of Hamden, CT and their three daughters, Cara, Lisa and Megan, son Patrick C. Wall and Shirley Phinney of Cape May, son Gregory Wall and his wife Patricia Ovack Wall of Alloway and their two daughters, Kathryn and Jaclyn, son David B. Wall and his wife Julie Pedicini Wall of Reading, MA and their two children, Michael and Natalie. He is also survived by one brother, Dr. Paul M. Wall of Colorado Springs, CO and one sister, Elizabeth Wall Borchard of WA, ten nieces and nephews, and 15 great nieces & nephews. John was predeceased by grandchild, Christopher DeCrescente and sister Patricia Wall Street. John was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, where he met Nancy, University of Scranton and Temple University School of Dentistry. At the University of Scranton, John was the first president of the Resident Student Club. While at Temple he was a member of the John A. Kolmer Honorary Society, the Frederick James Honor Society, the John Cameron Society of Oral Surgery. At Temple John also joined the Psi Omega Fraternity. Upon completing his D.D.S., John served in the US Army as a captain. He did his basic training at Brooks Army Medical Center, Fort Sam, Houston, TX. Later he was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, CO. In 1963 John and Nancy moved to Bridgeton where he opened his practice and continued serving his patients for 49 years. John loved his patients and believed his calling was to help people. He considered his loyal staff as family. He was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Chairman and Past President of the Cumberland County Dental Study Club. In addition, he was a member of the American Dental Association, the Southern Dental Society of NJ of which he was chairman of several committees. He was a member of The Parish of the Holy Cross/St. Teresa of Avila Church, a past member of the Holy Name Society and Parish Council, lector and also served as Chairman for the House of Charity appeal for many years. Dr. Wall was on the committee for the Bridgeton United Way and for seven years John volunteered his services at The Cumberland Manor and also at the Sheppard Nursing Home. John was an avid fisherman and also loved hunting. The most wonderful aspect of his passion was his ability to include his family. John and Nancy were truly soul mates and she was the love of his life. They, along with their five children, were lucky to spend many summers on the “Sea Wall”. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral which will originate at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton, on Saturday morning December 14th at 10:30 and will be followed by an 11 o’clock Funeral Liturgy at The Parish of the Holy Cross/St. Teresa of Avila R.C. Church, 46 Central Avenue, Bridgeton. The burial will follow at Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday evening from 5 until 8 and again on Saturday morning from 9:30 until 10:30.
