VAN HORN, JOHN RICHARD, 94, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, formerly of Mount Laurel, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Born in Philadelphia to the late Archibald and Sarah Wiley Van Horn, he lived in Mount Laurel and retired to Avalon, NJ. He worked at RCA in Moorestown as a packaging engineer.
Mr. Van Horn served in the Army Air Force 334th Bombardment Squadron in World War II and flew on 34 missions in Germany. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Avalon, the Avalon Yacht Club, the Free and Accepted Masons, the Stone Harbor American Legion, and the Avalon Golf Club. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis.
Mr. Van Horn is survived by his son, John R. Van Horn, Jr. (Donna); his daughter, Cheryl Allgeier; his son in law, Mike Perry; his four grandchildren, Stephanie Perry, Sarah Yacoub (Mazen), Ashley Harper (John), and Andrew Allgeier; and his great grandson, Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Van Horn and his daughter, Susan Van Horn-Perry.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210, where visitation will begin at 12:00 pm. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, Cape May Court House. Memorial donations may be made to Trustbridge Hospice, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
