TOWNSEND, GEORGE J., 86, of Cape May Court House, passed away on December 24, 2013. Born in Camden to George and Helen Townsend, he served in the US Navy and later was a self-employed independent truck driver. He lived in Haddon Heights and visited the shore regularly before moving permanently in the early 80s. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and hunting especially deer hunting trips to Deer Run Lodge in Copake, NY. He was predeceased by his wife Marie in 2007. George is survived by his son Michael (Patricia) Townsend of Gloucester Township and daughter Michele Adams of Cape May Court House; grandchildren: Kathryn (Ken) McDermott, Dayna, Alyssa, and Kristin; and great grandson Ty. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Atkinsons Tavern, 1010 Rt. 9 South, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
