THOMPSON, THURMAN S., of Cape May Court House. Thurman, a life-long resident of Cape May County, died Thursday November 28th, at the Transitional Life Center of Crest Haven. Born October 17, 1935, Thurman attended Wildwood Public Schools. After his schooling he worked as a commercial fisherman with his father. On May 12, 1958 he married Doris Alice Leaming. Thurman changed careers in 1968. In 1968 he began working for the City of Wildwood as a Pump Station Operator in the Water Utility Department until his retirement in July of 2000. Thurman retired from the City of Wildwood with the title of Superintendent of the Water Department. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Thurman loved spend-ing time with his family. He also enjoyed going to church and socializing with church members. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris Alice Thompson (Leaming). He is survived by his two sons, William and his wife Johanna, Thurman and his fiancee Jacqueline Barney; grandchildren, Thurman, William, Curtis, Joseph and Taylor; sister-in-law, Gladys Leaming. Funeral Services will be held 11 am Tuesday December 3, 2013 at the Ingersoll-Greenwood Funeral Home 1201 Central Ave., North Wildwood NJ 08260-0770 where friends may call from 10am. Interment will be in the Baptist Cemetery, Middle Township, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donation to Holy Redeemer Hospice 1801 Rt. 9 North, Swainton, NJ 08210 would be appreciated.
