Mrs. Laura Amelia Whipple, born October 26, 1955 in Perry, GA. Daughter of the late Allen Pugh Whipple, III and Elinor Trunnell Whipple. She was raised in Perry and attended West GA College in Carrollton and Mercer University in Macon.Laura’s work experience began with being a realtor for Northside Realty in Atlanta, this was the beginning of cultivating her entrepreneurial spirit and discovering the power and value of building relationships with people. She moved onto working as an insurance agent with New York Life, where she began grooming her mindset as well as others on self-advocacy.Laura went on to be a flight attendant instructor for Eastern and Continental Express with South Jersey Airlines, where she developed her skills as a teacher. After becoming a mom, she began to look for balance and flexibility and decided to go to nursing school. She worked as a geriatric nurse for 8 years and created programming for staff to deliver that extra special touch to clients.She went on to work with Century Twenty One Alliance, and became a Centurion Producer and served as top agent in her office for 4 years. The twist of these successes is that she had been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and was bouncing back in forth between surgeries and closing deals. She transferred to Remax and became a top agent and was grateful to their commitment to the breast cancer movement.Laura was honored by the CEO of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the CEO of Remax as one of the international role models surviving breast cancer. She was also involved with organizations, Crossing the Finish Line, Make a Wish and I Am Beautiful.Laura died on Saturday, November 11, 2017. She is survived by her two sons, Stephen (Jaclyn) Sykes and Matthew (Abby) Sykes; brother, Allen Metts Whipple, Sr.; sister, Lane Hanson, and her sister in law, Linda F.
