SWAIN, JUDITH L.

SWAIN, JUDITH L. “Jodi”, age 47 went home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ on May 21, 2013. She was a resident of Freehold, NJ. Jodi was born in Wilmington, DE and attended school near Newark, DE. Upon moving with her family to Mechanicsburg, PA, she was an honor student at Cumberland Valley High School. After graduation she attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French. After graduation, she and her family moved to Freehold, NJ where she attended Rutgers University and received a second Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. She worked as a freelance writer for the Greater Media’s News Transcript doing feature articles on many interesting people and organizations, and did a lot of writing for volunteer groups. Working with words always gave her much pleasure. Despite battling a neuromuscular disease most of her life, she was very caring, loved life and was a people person. She always had a beautiful smile for everyone she met. She was a dedicated Civil War reenactor and an honorary Sergeant with the 3rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry reenacting unit, attending many events in her antique wheelchair. She was also a founding member of the archeology group, BRAVO (Battlefield Restoration and Archeology Organization). She loved attending her church, traveling, auctions, craft shows and had many other interests. Jodi is survived by her father and mother, Wilfred and Dorothy, Her brother and Sister-in-law, Jim and Susan Swain of Mechanicsburg, PA and her niece and nephew, Katie and Matthew. Jodi’s viewings will be held on Wednesday (May 29th) in the Faith Evangelical Free Church sanctuary from 2 PM – 4 PM and again from 6 PM – 7 PM. Her funeral service will immediately follow her viewing in church and begin at 7PM on Wednesday. The burial service will be on Thursday (May 30th) at 2 PM at Cold Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery, in Cold Spring, NJ (Cape May County), 780 Seashore Road, Cold Spring, NJ.
