STEENLAND, RUTH C., 79, of Belleplain, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 5, 2015. She was born in Gloucester, NJ to the late Albert and Ruth Beckett Winters, Sr. Ruth was the co-founder of Steenland’s Gas Service. She was an active member of the community, serving as a 4-H leader for 46 years and on the board of the Cape Educational Fund. She was also a member of the Dennis Township Board of Education for 18 years, the Dennis Township PTA, and the Avalon Women’s Golf Association. She was former treasurer of the Acorn Garden Club, 4-H Leaders Association, Cape Educational Fund, and Avalon Women’s Golf Association. She loved golf, knitting, gardening, crafts, sewing, traveling, and most of all, her family. Ruth is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ted Steenland; daughters Nancy (Doug) Evans and Susan (Dan) Fowler; grandchildren, Christopher, Brian (Stacy), John (Amanda), Rachel (Doug), Stephanie, Kyle, and KC; and her sister, Kathy (Paul) Whilden. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sons, Joseph and Kenneth; sister Patricia (Bernard) Becker; and brother Albert Winters. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House. Viewings will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 9 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Head of the River Cemetery, Estell Manor.
