SMITH, STEPHEN MICHAEL

SMITH, STEPHEN MICHAEL, (aka Smitty, Smitdog, Our Hero) age 31, of Breezy Hill Road, Bradford, NH, peacefully passed at home after fighting a courageous battle against cancer, August 23, 2013. Stephen was born in Cape May, NJ April 21, 1982, son of Kerri MacKenzie and Stephen Smith, II. He grew up in Cape May, Springfield and Hartford, VT and Lebanon, NH. He finished school in Cape May, NJ graduating from Lower Cape May Regional HS in 2000 and married Wendy Knowlen on July 30, 2011. He loved all the major New England sports: Red Sox, Pats, Celtics and Bruins, loved anything outdoors from yard work to playing Frisbee. He enjoyed visits to Cape May, seeing the ocean and playing cribbage, he was the best! In his life he proved to be an inspiration to many for his unforgettable sense of humor and positive attitude. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Wendy, daughters, Mackenzie and Jaina, and most of his family and friends at the time of his passing. He was always surrounded with the people who cared and loved him. He will forever live in our hearts, guide us and protect us. He is survived by his beloved wife, Wendy, of Bradford, NH, his daughters: Mackenzie Rose also of Bradford, Jaina Neri of Goffstown, NH, his brother: Seth Horne of Lebanon, NH, his father Stephen Smith, II and his wife Charlene, of Cape May, NJ, his mother Kerri Mackenzie of NH and his stepfather of Randolph Horne of Newport, NH, 4 sisters: Carli Merchant of Beaufort, SC, Denise Moore of Cape May, Christen Dimick of Charlestown, NH and Kim Horne of Brighton, MA, his maternal grandparents: Jack and Ida MacKenzie of San Antonio, TX and several nieces and nephews. Friends may visit the family from 6-8PM on Friday August 30, 2013, at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street in Newport, NH for memorial calling hours. A Celebration and Tribute to Stephens Life will be held at 1PM time at 506 North Main Street in Newport, NH, Saturday, August 31, 2013.
