SMEDLEY, HARRY F., Sr., age 91, of North Cape May passed away peacefully Thursday, June 27, 2013 at his home. Born in Philadelphia, PA. and formerly of the Germantown Section of that city; he has been a Cape May area resident since 1980. He is the son of the late J Howard and the late Lucy (Egner) Smedley. Harry served his country in the U S Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired from Philadelphia Fire Department in 1978 after 30 years of service; and for the Frankford Arsenal of Philadelphia. Harry was a member of St John Neumann Parish in North Cape May. He was preceded in death by his wife Marion in 2008; his sister Marie Madden; and four brothers: Joseph, Frank, Jerry, and Edward. Harry is survived by his two daughters: Marion (Joseph) Discepola of North Cape May, NJ and Diane Conway of Swainton, NJ; and two sons: Harry Mary) F Smedley Jr. of Philadelphia, PA and Joseph (JoAnne) Smedley of Warrington, PA. Also surviving are his sister Lucy Catterall of Hatborough, NJ; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. There will be a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St John of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
