SHIVERS, KENNETH D. SR., 94, of North Wildwood, NJ, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 at home. Born on the same street as he lived in North Wildwood to the late Jesse and Anna Hansen Shivers, he was a lifetime resident here. He was a commercial fisherman. Mr. Shivers served in the U.S. Army during World War II as part of the Counter Intelligence Corps. In the Philippines, he would take other soldiers in a boat to the islands to scope out the locations of the enemy troops for the Army to plan their attacks. When he was back in the US as a fisherman, the Navy asked for his assistance in locating submarines off the East Coast. Mr. Shivers was known as a storyteller. He was ride his three wheeler bike with his photo books in the basket to the North Wildwood Lighthouse. He would show people the pictures he had of history and tell the stories to anyone who would listen. He enjoyed fishing and taking care of his family. Mr. Shivers is survived by his daughter, Diane C. Bowman (David); his grandson, Jesse E. Bowman (Danielle); his great granddaughter, Natalie; and his cousins including Joe Pennino. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Rose Shivers and his son, Kenneth D. Shivers, Jr. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Cold Spring Presbyterian Cemetery, 780 Seashore Road, Cold Spring.
