SCULLY, FRANCES B. (nee McDevitt ) 3-13-26 to 7-8-17 of Wildwood Crest, NJ. Passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Barrington, NJ then moved to South Philly. After graduating from Hallahan High, she went to work at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Vacationing in Wildwood Fran met “the love of her life”, Chris, at Jitterbug Beach (Magnolia Ave.) Chris and Fran worked together in many business ventures, a bike stand, a beach grille, The Hotel Dickson and built the Quarterdeck Motel, while raising her family. She also helped manage C.J. Scully & Son Construction Co.
Fran in her time was very involved with St. Ann’s Church, the PTA, and the Catholic Charities. She enjoyed cooking, baking, the beach, Ocean “Dips”, playing cards, gardening, reading and doing her crossword puzzles. The Phillies were mom’s team, win or lose. No matter the name you knew her by, Mom, Aunt Fran, Fash, G-Mom, Grandmom, Granny Franie or Gigi you always felt the love.
Fran was predeceased by her parents, John and Frances McDevitt, her sister Jean Botto, her husband Christopher J. Scully Sr. She is survived by her four children, Kathleen, Chris (Annette Scully), Marybeth (Tom Mackiewicz), and Janet (Doug Ford), eight grandchildren and Twelve great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 13, 2017, at 11 am with a viewing from 10 am to 11 am at the St. Ann’s Church, Notre Dame De La Mer Parish, 2900 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood, NJ Entombment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lower Township, NJ.
