SCHENCK, DONALD R., 91, of West Cape May and formerly of Yardley, PA, peacefully passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, June 9, 2017; his family was at his side. Having vacationed in Cape May since the 1970s, he and his late wife, Judy, retired to the area 20 years ago.
A man of honor, Don served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for 40 years at PSE&G, rising through the ranks of the gas department in Trenton, NJ, becoming a regional supervisor, and then being promoted to the position of manager of the service department in Burlington, NJ. He has been involved in the following organizations: The Pennsbury High School Band Boosters, the First Presbyterian Church of Morrisville, PA, the Delaware Valley New Jersey and PA Campers, and the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts in Cape May. Known for his kindness, generosity, old-fashioned manners and dry sense of humor, his gentle manner connected him to his dear children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his beloved nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. He worked hard and was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and uncle. He was a great cook, especially with grilling, liked to garden, work with his hands, enjoyed camping, and traveled to the lower 48 states and Alaska with his beloved wife, Judy. He also appreciated a good cup of coffee out on the porch. Don enjoyed a marriage of 47 years to the late Judy Schenck (2014). He is dearly missed by his loving family which includes his three children: Debra Schenck Wilder (husband, Stephen), Robert Schenck, and Charles Potzer (wife, Angela); his beloved brother Richard Schenck (wife, Dottie), six grandsons, two great-grandchildren and four nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents John R. Schenck and Edith L. Schenck, of Trenton, NJ.
Funeral services are being held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts in Cape May, NJ. (Spilker Funeral Home, Cape May) info and condolences: spilkerfuneralhome.com
