SAYRE (nee HARRIS), HELEN LOUISE, 88, of Cape May passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, with family by her side on Saturday, September 9, 2017. She was born on December 16, 1928 and raised in Cape May, being a lifelong resident. She graduated from Cape May High School in 1946. In her early years, she worked as a telephone operator on Ocean Street in Cape May and also in Collingswood and Wildwood. Helen was an active member of the Cape May United Methodist Church where she was a volunteer secretary for 35 years, retiring in 2001. “A Mom leaves her mark in the world with the love she gives her children.” Everything to her evolved around her growing family. Always the homemaker and a “Mom Mom” to all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She married the love of her life, Jonathan “Jack” Sayre on December 17, 1949, with 68 years of a fulfilling life together. Helen is dearly missed by her loving family which includes her husband, Jonathan “Jack” Sayre; six children, David Sayre, Elaine Foley (Gene), Ed Sayre (Karin), Jennifer McInerney (Mike), Donna Sayre (Sam Jordan) and Beverly DeFulvio (Tom); her sister, Jeannette Harris; brother, Harry Harris (Karen); 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Curtis and Jenny Harris, as well as her brother, Curtis Harris, Jr. Relatives and friends will be received on Friday (Sept. 15th) at the Cape May United Methodist Church, 635 Washington St., Cape May from 10am until 11am with Helen’s memorial ceremony beginning at 11am.
