SADORF, AUGUST JOSEPH, age 95, died at peace in his home in South Dennis, NJ, on November 21, 2015 in the company of his family. August was born in Sumneytown, Pennsylvania on July 27, 1920 to Anton Sadorf and Emma (Ferketic) Sadorf. August served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He earned a Purple Heart during his time in Guadalcanal before participating in the Battles of Tarawa, Saipan, and Tinian. August was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Emma (Ferketic), his sister Josephine, and brothers Anthony, John, Emil, Charles, George, and Joseph. August is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary (Gallagher), his son, Thomas and his wife Rachel (McKenrick) of Cordova, MD, his daughters Christina of Alexandria, VA and Brigid of South Dennis, NJ, and his grandchild, Joseph. August is also survived by sister Catherine (Koestel), Christina (Ledger), and Helen Toth, as well as nieces and nephews who were a constant source of entertainment for August. A Mass will be held at St. Brendan the Navigator, 50th St. and Dune Drive, Avalon, NJ 08202 at 11:00 am on Monday, November 30. Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am before the Mass. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
