RICKARDS, HERBERT W. Jr., age 97, of North Cape May passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at his home. Herbert was born June 10, 1916 in Philadelphia, PA; but has been a Cape May area resident for 33 years. He attended Drexel University as a student of Mechanical Engineering. Herbert served his country in the US Army Air Force during World War II. He was a printer by trade, working for the Philadelphia Inquirer Newspaper. Herbert was a member of the International Printers Union, a 50 year member of the American Legion, a member of the Villas Fishing Club, and he enjoyed working cross word puzzles. He was preceded in death by his wife Anne Robinson Rickards in 2004. Herbert is survived by his step son John (Marge) Devennie of Florence, NJ; his step daughter Diane (Michael) Hamilton of Del Haven; his two grandsons: Andrew & John; his sister Dorothy Ivins; and his devoted neighbors/care givers George & Flossie Harley. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
