RASMUSSEN, EVELYN PENALIGON, 85, of Wildwood Crest passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 7th. Evelyn was born in West Pittston, PA. and met her husband, Keith, while attending Wilkes College. Soon after graduating from college, Keith and Evelyn were married on February 21, 1950. They then moved to Wildwood Crest. For over 40 years, Evelyn and Keith owned and operated Silen’s Shoes and Beachwear in Wildwood. Her retirement years were spent enjoying family, travel, golf and winters in Deerfield Beach, FL. Evelyn was a member of the Eastern Star, served as the treasurer for the Methodist Church and was an active member of the Avalon Golf Club. In addition to her husband, Keith, Evelyn is survived by their children Barry (Patricia) of Wildwood Crest and Paula Korkes of Mesa, AZ. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren James (Jennifer) and Daniel (Cassandra) Rasmussen and Melissa and Charles Korkes. One of Evelyn’s joys was playing with her great-grandchildren, Ryan and Penelope. They will miss their ” Grammy”. Evelyn was predeceased by her dear sister, Jean and brother-in-law Norman Smith. Friends and relatives are invited to the celebration of her life being held at the First United Methodist Church, 6700 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260 at 11am on Saturday May 11th. Visitation is from 10-11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, or the Love of Linda Cancer Fund, established to assist local families dealing with cancer, PO Box 1053, Wildwood, NJ 08260.
