QUINN, DORIS WALKER, of 200 West Church Street, Edenton, NC, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in her home. Doris was born on September 22, 1932 in Lansdale, PA, and was one of five daughters born to Lester Allen and Frances Virginia Russell Wilson. A 1953 graduate of the West Jersey Hospital School of Nursing, she served as a private duty nurse, an operating room nurse, and subsequently was certified in Psychiatric Nursing and served in this field for over 30 years. Those years of service included Belle Meade Psychiatric Clinic, and later, retiring after 22 years with Lyons VA Hospital in Lyons, NJ, again specializing in Psychiatric care. After moving to Edenton 11 years ago, Doris enjoyed singing with the Albemarle Chorale and with the choir at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Surviving are her husband, Robert H. Quinn; three children, Steve Walker and wife Nancy of Franklin, PA, Pat Walker and husband Gary Shapiro of Blacksburg, VA, and Cindy Kight and husband Edward of Fallston, MD; three sisters, Joanna Mosher, Virginia Hutton, and Patricia Mevola; two step-daughters, Alexandra Quinn of Cape May, NJ and Catherine Quinn and husband Gim Chin of Irvine, CA; five grandchildren, Caroline and Allison Kight of Fallston, Haley Walker and Rachel Shapiro of Pittsburg, PA, and Ryan Shapiro of Washington, DC; and three step-grandchildren, Quinn Dougherty of Cape May, and Virginia and Finley Chin of Irvine. A memorial service was held Sunday, February 16th, at 2:00 p.m. in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church by The Reverend Jim Reed. Burial followed in the memorial garden of the church. Friends joined the family for a reception in the Parish Hall immediately following the service. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, assisted the family with arrangements.
