OWENS, JEANETTE MARIE, of North Wildwood, died Tuesday April 27th, 2010 in Oceanview Center for Rehabilitation, three months shy of her 100th birthday. Born in Gessopalena, Italy on July 12, 1910 to Antonietta Salamone and Oswald Melchiorre, Jeanette immigrated to the United States with her family in November 1915. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Northeastern Hospital School of Nursing and worked for several years at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital in Cape May County. During her career, she was an active member of the American Heart Association and the March of Dimes. Jeanette married Thomas Owens in 1935 and enjoyed entertaining and cooking her favorite Italian recipes for her family and friends, including her two daughters, Diane McLeod and Antoinette Kill, her three brothers, Ossie, Andrew and Victor and their families. She is survived by her daughter, Antoinette; Antoinette’s daughters, Jennelle and Vanessa; and four additional grandchildren, James, Thomas, Stephanie and Christopher, from her late daughter, Diane. Janette was also survived by her seven great-grandchildren, six nephews and a niece. Funeral services held 10 am, Monday, May 3rd at Notre Dame de la Mer Parish, at St. Ann’s Church, 2900 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood, N.J.
