ONEILL, CHARLES J., 93, of Cape May passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2013 in the comfort of his daughters home and with his family. Charles was born in Philadelphia, PA and was a resident of Cape May for the past 20 years. He graduated from Roman Catholic High School where he was a standout, four year varsity football player. A man of honor, Charles was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He worked as a meat cutter and manager for various supermarkets in the Philadelphia area during his working years. While in Philadelphia, he was a member of St. Stephens Parish, North Phila. and, more recently, in Cape May, he was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. He enjoyed a beautiful marriage of 68 years with his wife, Anne M. who passed away in 2010. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Carol Anne Dembeck (2010) and his son, Robert ONeill (1995); his brother, Patrick ONeill and his sister, Rosemary Davis. Charlie will be dearly missed by his loving family which includes his eight children, Charles ONeill, Stephen (and Kathy) ONeill, Betsy Gambino, Peter (and Peggy) ONeill, Grace Toner, Mary (and Michael) Wirzberger, Anne (and Bill) Wolf and Arthur (and Joanne) ONeill; his sisters, Mary Harp, Cass McKee and Patsy Orbanus; brothers, Joseph ONeill and Jimmy ONeill. 32 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday (July 23rd) at 2pm in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 525 Washington St., Cape May where there will be a viewing from 12:30pm to 1:50pm. Interment with Military Honors will take place in the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery.
