OLEFERUK, ISABELLE (BELLE), age 84, passed away on September 7, 2015 and has gone on to her next adventure. Her children figure that she is getting things ready for all of us when we all go on to be with her again. Belle was born in Yonkers, NY in 1931 and she is survived by her two sons: Gene J. Altobelli and Catherine of Hastings on Hudson, NY and Peter M. Altobelli and Diane of Cape May Court House, their families, and six beloved grandchildren: Elizabeth Altobelli, Gene J. Altobelli Jr. and wife Allison, Amanda Altobelli, Gabrielle Altobelli, Maddy Chase, and Sam Chase. She is also survived by three sisters Agnes Arbore, Rose Stefanik and husband Richard, and Angela Evans; and many nieces and nephews. Belle resided in Yonkers, NY for half her life, graduating from Gorton High School and married Virgino Altobelli, a small business owner and having two sons. Moving to Cape May Court House in the late 1960’s, she worked for Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital (Cape Regional Medical Center) in the Billing Department, then moving on to work for the County of Cape May for twenty five years in the Building and Grounds Department. During that time she attended Rutgers and Stockton College working towards a degree. As a pioneer of woman’s rights in the workplace, Belle proudly ran for mayor of Middle Township, putting forth a strong fight in a close election. Upon her retirement she was a trip coordinator for Great American Trolley and volunteered at Cape Regional Gift Shop. She also ran a small business – Belle’s Fun Tours with trips to New York City and the eastern seaboard areas. Belle led an exciting life of travel, both domestically as well as internationally. Belle loved beach days and swims in the ocean. She will be missed by her many friends, Red Hats, neighbors, and political allies. The substance of Mom’s life has always been her children and grandchildren as she has also been the essence of our lives. Our remarkable matriarch and precious mother is sadly and poignantly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cape Regional Volunteers, 2 Stone Harbor Blvd., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210 in the name of Belle Oleferuk. Visitation and Memorial will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House. Condolences at www.radzieta.com
