O’HALA, ELIZABETH J. (“Betty”), age 73, of West Wildwood, NJ passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Betty was born on 5/27/1944 in Philadelphia, PA. She was a 1962 graduate of Northeast High School and worked for Philco, before moving to West Wildwood in 1967 with her husband Carl. There she worked as a chambermaid at various motels, as well as for Kohr Bros. on the Wildwood Boardwalk. Betty was president of the West Wildwood School Board, Deputy Clerk at the Borough of West Wildwood, was employed at the North Wildwood Acme, and was a member of the West Wildwood Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; which was her proudest achievement. In addition, she taught baking and cake decorating at the Cape May County Tech School and at the library in Wildwood Crest. She owned her own bakery “A Piece of Cake” in West Wildwood. Betty is survived by her husband of 51 years: Carl O’Hala; her brother William and his wife Helen Steck; her son Charles; her son Michael and his wife Amy; and her son Carl and his wife Missy. Also surviving are grandchildren: Michael, Heather, Joshua, Zachary, Jessica, Alex, Carlee, & Alyssa; and her great grandson Mason. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Norte Dame de la Mer Parish, St Anne’s RC Church, 2900 Atlantic Ave, Wildwood, NJ 08260; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
