O’CONNOR, STEVEN C. – age 69, of Cape May Court House, NJ was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 30, 2015. Steve was born in the Bronx, NY, the son of the late Charles and Mildred Krewson O’Connor. He attended St. Brendan’s Grammar School and graduated from Mount St. Michael’s Academy and Bronx Community College. In 1974, he moved to Cape May County at which time he was employed during the summer with the Avalon Police Department. He was hired full time in 1975 by the Stone Harbor Police Department and retired as Chief of Police in 2003 after a distinguished twenty-eight year career. While working, he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Stockton College. He formerly was employed by Fairchild Publications and the New York Daily News. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and was a 2nd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He served on the Cape May County Human Advisory Council; the Board of Directors of ARC of Cape May County; was a member of the NJ State Chiefs of Police Association and a member and past-president of the Cape May County Chiefs of Police Association; member and past-president of the Mid-Atlantic Law Enforcement Survivors Weekend Committee and was active in the community which included coaching Little League Baseball and Youth Football. Steve wan an avid sports fan and enjoyed traveling to baseball and football games, as well as his children’s sporting events. He is survived by his wife, the former Bridget M. Rafferty; his children: Charles J. and his wife, Dawn; Stephanie M. Neuman and her husband, Chris; Josie M. Quinn and her husband, Peter and Patrick S.; his six grandchildren: Kylie and Brendan O’Connor; Andrew and Keenan Neuman and Lana Brendan Quinn. A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ and on Friday, November 6, 2015,10 to 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 35 E.
