Obituary

PHINNEY, MARK E. It

PHINNEY, MARK E.
It is with great sadness that the family of Mark E. Phinney announces his passing, after a long and brave battle, on Tuesday August 8, 2017, as he was surrounded by family.
Mark will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife and best friend of 63 years, Shirley and his children, Wayne, and his wife Bonnie, Scott and his wife Patti, Gary and his fiancee Karen, his daughter Shirley and “son-in-law” Patrick. Mark will also be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren, Duane, Christmas, and her husband Jacob, Ethan, Scott, Sarah, and Michael, and his five great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Levi, Dylan, Rory, and Skylar.
Mark was a veteran that served his country in Korea as a medic. He spoke very little about this time over the years, yet we knew it was something that had a profound effect on him. He always said, “I am not a hero.” Yet others would beg to differ on that point.
He was proceeded in death by his youngest son Gerald, his brothers James and Robert and his sister Dorothy. He is survived by his younger sister, Kay as well as many nieces and nephews who adored “Uncle Mark” and always thought of him as being larger than life.
Mark enjoyed nature and being outside. He loved flowers. It could be said he never met a flower he didn’t like. He loved music, cook-outs, a cold Rolling Rock and most of all, family.
Registered as a Master Plumber, Mark went on to become a builder, a land developer, and an entrepreneur, always doing things his way. Perhaps the “job” he loved most was the one he held until the end; parking cars at Elaine’s in Cape May, New Jersey. He would often chat with the customers, giving directions and telling them that he was a Gentleman Farmer.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at 12Noon on Wednesday August 16th at the Shelly Funeral Home 1460 Easton Road, Warrington, Pa. Interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until the time of the service.
