MURPHY, CATHERINE A. (nee Smith), age 97, of Cape May passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2013. Born in Philadelphia, PA; she has been a Cape May area resident since 1973. She retired after 30 years of service from the National Sugar Company of Philadelphia. Catherine was a member of the American Legion, Lower Township Senior Club, and the Villas Fishing Club. She was a member of the Parish of St John Neumann, St Raymonds RC Church and enjoyed spending time with her family. Catherine was preceded in death by her first husband Charles Gerber in 1961; her second husband William Murphy in 1985; 4 sisters; and 1 brother. She is survived by her son Charles Gerber and wife Patricia of Surf City, NJ; her daughter Catherine Turney of North Cape May, NJ; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
