MORTON, CARL “Raymond”, 88, of Woodbine passed away at home, on December 21, 2013. Born in Stone Harbor to George and Frances Morton, he later proudly served in the US Navy from 1942 to 1945. He then owned and operated his Father’s business as a Marine Contractor in Stone Harbor and was a member of the Stone Harbor Fire Department. He later retired from the NJ Bridge Commission. He moved to Woodbine 24 years ago and has been a lifetime member of the NRA and member of the Cumberland Rifle Association. Ray was an avid outdoorsman and a gunsmith all his life and has left a legacy of teaching his children and grandchildren to appreciate nature, proper hunting principles accentuating the 2nd Amendment the right to bear arms, fishing and many other outdoor activities. He harvested his last turkey at the age of 88 with his grandson C.J. at his side and never lost the love of hunting. He had a good sense of humor, loved life, and was always quick to smile. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Along with his parents he is predeceased by his daughter Julie Jean and siblings George Morton, Frances Novak and Winifred Morton. Ray is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ethel (formerly Eismann); daughters Joanne (Richard) Hovde and Carol Tomlin; son Ken (Lyn) Morton; grandchildren; Gary(Pam)Aydelotte), Jennifer (Dave) McMichael, C.J.(Kim) Tomlin, Ray(Allycia) Tomlin, John Robertson, and Andy Morton and 9 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
