MORGAN, DONNIE LEE

MORGAN, DONNIE LEE, 66, of Woodbine, NJ died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born May 9, 1950, in Houston, Mississippi, he was the son of the late JD Morgan and Virginia (Rushin) Morgan. He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Judith Gollatz-Morgan; along with three children; Kevin Morgan of Rome, Georgia, Craig and Angela Morgan of Bethpage, New York, and John and Karen Lake of Mays Landing, New Jersey; 9 grandchildren, Kevin Morgan Jr., Kyle Morgan, Keith Lake, Justin Lake, Morgan Lake, Nicholas Morgan, Ava Morgan, and Payton Morgan, and Liam Morgan; his sister, Donna Huelle of Jacksonville, Florida; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives. His early years were spent in Memphis, Tennessee where he graduated from Westside High School in 1968. At age 21, he moved with his young family to Atlantic County, New Jersey to start work for the Atlantic City Electric Company at the B.L. England Generating Station in Marmora, New Jersey. He enjoyed a 35 year career at the plant starting in the instrument controls group and working his way up to production engineer specializing in coal fired boiler combustion controls and was known nationally as a cyclone boiler expert. Donnie was an avid bass fisherman and is affectionately known by his grandchildren as “fishin’ Pop-pop”. When he wasn’t chasing the elusive large mouth, he loved playing golf and would be the first to be asked to join a foursome. Whether it was golf, poker, or just socializing with family and friends, everyone loved to have him around for his wonderful sense of humor and infectious smile. Friends may visit with the family Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 10 am until 12 noon at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. A memorial service for Donnie will immediately follow at 12 noon with Pastor James Bry officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Gifts, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
