MONAHAN, FRANCIS J. (Frank), age 88, formerly of Fishing Creek left for his final resting place Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Frank was born October 2, 1925 in New York City, NY. He was a graduate of Bishop Loughlin Academy in Brooklyn and attended Manhattan College. Frank served his country in the 100th Infantry Division, 398 Regiment, Company A of the US Army during World War II; where he was held as a POW in Czechoslovakia for 9 months, and was freed on VE Day. Frank met his wife Maria Dolores Broderick at Macys Basement in Herald Square where they both worked. Dolores was attending New York University and Frank Manhattan College. They fell in love and married on October 1, 1949. Frank was the father of 5 children and lived in Parsippany for 31 years after which he retired to Cape May, NJ in 1995. He is survived by his wife Dolores, his daughters: Mary Ann & Karen; his son Jim; and his brother Joe. Frank has eight grandchildren: Travis, Erin, Chris, Tobias, Melissa, Kelsie, Megan, & Conor; and three great grandchildren: Aiden, Jaxson, & Jack. He was preceded in death by two of his children: Frank and Susan. Frank lived a great life and always had a smile on his face, and a story to be told. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St John of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204.
