MEHL, MATTIE FALCON, of Stone Harbor and Cape May Court House, NJ passed away on Dec. 28, 2013 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Mattie was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 17, 1925. Her parents, Morris and Louise Falcon emigrated from Izmir, Turkey in the early 1900s. Mattie graduated from Brooklyn College at the young age of 18 where she received a B.A. degree in education. In later years she earned an M.A. degree; then dedicating her life to teaching high school French and Spanish, as well as English as a second language to adults. Her passion for the language arts will long be remembered by her peers and students as a teacher in Braintree, MA from 1967 through 1987; and then from 1987 to 1997 at Wildwood High School and Cape May Technical School. Mattie was active for many years at The Yacht Club of Stone Harbor as well as in various other Stone Harbor organizations. Mattie left behind her loving and dedicated husband of 44 years, George J. “Dob” Mehl, who passed away just six weeks after her death. She is survived by a daughter, Donna Silverman Goetz; and a son, Barry Falcon Silverman, of Pennsylvania; and her step-children, Lauren Mehl Kinsman, Gary Mehl, and Cindy Mehl Lazarovich, all of MA. She also leaves behind her children, Steve and Barbara Mehl of Cape May Court House, NJ; and many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren to whom she was “Gaga”. She will be lovingly remembered by her older brother, Joseph A. Falcon and his wife, Shirley, of Los Angeles, CA; as well as her special nephew and niece, Sandy and Karen Falcon. Mattie will best be remembered for her beauty, intelligence and loving nature. A joint celebration of life for both Mattie and her husband, Dob, will be held at The Lighthouse Church in Cape May Court House on Saturday, March 8 at 11a.m. with visiting beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brendan Borek Fund, P.O.
