MEEHAN, LAWRENCE J., age 82, of Wildwood passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 Lawrence was born in Philadelphia, PA.; lived in the Fishtown Section of the city; and has been a Cape May area resident for 43 years. He served his country in the Korean War. Lawrence was a bartender for many years at several local establishments. He worked at Niels Steak House in Wildwood, the Thunderbird Inn in North Wildwood, and at Alfies Restaurant in Wildwood (where he invented “Lobster Larry” and the cocktail the “Streaker”). Lawrence is survived by his wife of 54 years Rose and his eight children: Larry Jr., Joe, Laureen Daniels, Nicholas, Charles, Rosemarie, Patricia, & Michael. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St John of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
