MEARS, ROBERT BRUCE, 80, of Charleston, South Carolina died on Monday, June 17, 2013, at Veterans Victory House Nursing Home in Walterboro, South Carolina. Born Monday, May 15, 1933 in Montgomery, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Lawrence Mears and the late Mary Douglas Mears. Robert graduated from Cape May High School and lived the majority of his life in New Jersey. He was a retired merchant marine and served in the United States Army. He is survived by daughter, Mary Beth Gaffney (Michael) of Charleston, South Carolina; two brothers, Lawrence Mears (Doris) of Cape May, New Jersey and James Mears of Pocono Summit, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at 3:00pm, at Cape Island Baptist Church, Cape May, New Jersey.
