MEAD, BARBARA K., 95, of Avalon, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at her home. Born in New York, NY to the late William and Johanna (Behrman) Knise, she moved to Avalon over 25 years ago from Maryland. She was an Army Veteran of World War II. BeBe, as she was affectionately called by her family, enjoyed crocheting and cooking. Every year she baked Christmas cookies to give away to family and friends. She had her recipes printed in Taste Of Home magazine after winning a recipe contest. Her greatest enjoyment came from the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. BeBe is survived by her husband of 68 years, Edward D. Mead, Jr.; her children, Sandra M. Markwood (Ron), Barbara M. Wheeler (Jim), and Edward D. Mead, III (Claudette); her four grandchildren; and her great granddaughter. Funeral services for the family will be held at a later date at the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery.
