MCGOWEN, MICHAEL C. , age 51, a resident of Wildwood, NJ for the past 30 years, died unexpectedly on December 8, 2016.Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of Phoebe E. (nee McGeever) and the late John R. McGowen. He graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1983. Mike married, the love of his life, Rose A. LoMonaco on February 10, 1990. Although they divorced in 2015, their friendship, admiration and love never ended. Their marriage was blessed by the birth of their two wonderful children, Michael Vincent McGowen and Krista Rose McGowen.To his children, Mike was a caring and devoted father whose love was apparent through their whole lives. Mike was a local business owner of LoMonaco Awnings alongside his father-in-law, Vince LoMonaco and a prominent member of the community. Mike had a special way about him that would always make you smile and remember every good thing in your life. His devoted nature to his family and friends was evident through his generous heart. Mike was an extremely kind soul whose goodness was always being there for others. His memory will live forever.In addition to his former wife, children and mother, Mike is survived by his brothers: John Jack McGowen, Francis Bud and his wife, Mary McGowen and Dennis McGowen, by his sister Phoebe and her husband Bill Heeney, by nieces and nephews and by his mother-in-law, RoseMarie LoMonaco. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bridget Scirrotto, last month, and by his father-in-law, Vincent LoMonaco in 2014.Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 16, 2016, Notre Dame De La Mer Parish, (St. Ann Church) 2901 Atlantic Avenue, Wildwood, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received, in the church, from 9:30 until the time of the mass. Interment will be private.
