McGILL, MARTIN, 90, of Cape May, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at his home. Born in Philadelphia to the late James Joseph and Loretta Cecilia (Lovell) McGill, he moved here 36 years ago from Philadelphia. He retired from Atlantic Refining Oil Company and then drove a school bus for Lower Township Public Schools for 17 years. Mr. McGill was a Coast Guard Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish for 35 years before recently becoming a new member at St. John Neumann Parish St. John of God Church. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6202. He loved fishing and boating. Mr. McGill is survived by his beloved wife, Lavenia McGill; his children, William Thron, Karen Sykes, Kim Torres, Ken Verity, Dana Diederberger, Betty Jo Sideravage, Donna Schmidt, and Rich Verity; his brother, Thomas McGill; his 23 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine McGill, his son, Kevin Verity; and his brothers, Joseph McGill and James McGill. Funeral Mass will be said on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Neumann Parish St. John of God Church, 680 Townbank Road, North Cape May, where viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery.
