MAJOR, ALLEN S., 61, passed away on February 27, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of Cape May and grew up playing Little League football for the Cape May Rockets. He graduated Lower Cape May Regional H.S. in 1972 and attended Glassboro State College. Later he umpired and was a referee for youth baseball and basketball; as well as Mens Summer League. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church under the pastorate of Robert O. Davis, where he taught Sunday School along with his sister Georgette M. Scott. Later he helped serve for the Sunday morning breakfast. He served at the Cape May VFW under Commander Lee. Allen was active in the community, enjoyed people, and loved Cape May. He worked for the Ocean Deck Restaurant, Dellas Delicatessen, and various other Cape May businesses. He is predeceased by his parents, Bertha Major and Norton Little, Sr.; and sister Georgette M Scott. He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters: Paula M. McNair of Atlantic City, NJ and Darlene A. Major of West Cape May; one brother, Norton R. Major of Lower Twp.; as well as a host of nieces and great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, 630 Lafayette St., Cape May, NJ 08204. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery, Cold Spring, NJ.
