LOVELL, DOROTHY PLATKA “DOLLY”, formerly of Cape May, died peacefully in her home on November 22, 2010 in Brigantine, NJ. Born in Burlington, Vermont on March 27, 1927, she married Moses Richardson Lovell July 30, 1949, who predeceased her. She attended Burlington High School and continued her education at Mary Fletcher Hospital School of Nursing and became a registered nurse, graduating in 1949. Further education included courses at the University of Vermont, Glassboro College, NJ, Atlantic Community College, NJ and St. Josephs, ME She served as Coordinator of In-service Education at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House, NJ for nine years. She was also on the ER Support Team, and served on the staff of the Elder Care Unit at Burdette. She belonged to Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, American Heart Association, Rio Grande Rescue Squad, Rio Grande, NJ; Life member, American Spaniel Club; Life member, Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; Past President, Treasurer and Life Member. She was an active member of the Brigantine Senior Center and served as Treasurer and Secretary of The Young At Heart Group. Surviving are her son Mark R. Lovell and wife Carol, Cape May Beach, NJ, daughter Rev. Elizabeth A. McGlinn and husband Scott, Brigantine, NJ, son Retired Capt. Eric R. Lovell, MD and wife Nancy, San Diego, CA; and Grandchildren; Christopher J. DeMatteis, Eric J. DeMatteis, Eric Brandon Lovell and Anne Lauren Lovell. Internment will be held privately at Lakeview Cemetery, Burlington, Vermont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Spaniel Club, 260 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10016.
