Obituary

LEONIK, DIANE

LEONIK, DIANE (nee DeMeo) passed from this earth to surf the perfect wave in heaven on October 27, 2015. Diane was an amazing, intelligent, articulate, strong, focused, athletic, creative, witty, loving soul that touched many people throughout her life. Diane spent the last 34 years working with the Cape May County MUA as an Executive Project Developer. She was instrumental to the formative years of the solid waste program. She was also the recipient of the 2015 CMC Chamber of Commerce Visionary Award in honor of her vision and contributions to CMC’s Sustainable Management of Waste Materials, which have enhanced the preservation of our natural environment. Diane enjoyed surfing with her beloved husband and lifelong surfing buddy, Tom. Their 35 year path has navigated them through enough adventures to last multiple life times. Diane and Tom were the perfect complement to each other and soul mates. The two greatest loves of her life and the two largest sources of grey hairs and heart palpitations were her daughters, Kallie and Kate. They have been properly trained in belting out Aretha Franklin while in the car, never showing up to someone’s house empty-handed, standing up straight, and following their dreams. Diane leaves behind her best friend and older sister, Andrea DeMeo, who Diane enjoyed bossing around on a daily basis since birth, and her brothers Ed and Chris DeMeo, who she enjoyed skiing with down various mountains across the country and who were often tricked into cleaning bushels of crabs for her world-renowned spaghetti and crabs. All family, friends, prayer warriors, and beach/surf buddies are invited to join us in celebrating Di’s well-lived life on November 7th, 2015 from 1-3pm at the Women’s Civic Club, 96th Street and Beach, Stone Harbor, NJ. Pictures and written embarrassing stories are greatly encouraged and slightly required. In lieu of flowers, Diane would prefer that you enjoy a margarita (or three) and a fantastic meal with the people you love most. Condolences at www.radzieta.com
